A simple but satisfying card-and-board game that blends luck with blocking and tactics, so it suits families and teams. Play depends on the cards you draw, so a poor hand can frustrate players who want full control.

Description
About Sequence
Sequence is a game in which you play cards from your hand and place chips on matching spaces on the board, aiming to make a row of five chips, called a Sequence. The board shows each playing card twice, with no jacks on it.
It was designed by Douglas Reuter, who first called it Sequence Five, and it was licensed to Jax Ltd. Goliath has owned the game since 2018.
How a turn works
On your turn you play a card from your hand, place a chip on a matching space on the board and draw a replacement card.
Two-eyed Jacks are wild and let you place a chip on any open space. One-eyed Jacks let you remove an opponent’s chip, unless it is already part of a completed Sequence.
The four corners are free spaces for everybody. With two players or teams you need two Sequences to win, and with three you need only one.
Why it works at a family table
The rules are easy to learn, and you can see the board filling up, so it is easy to follow even for younger players.
It plays with two players or in teams of up to twelve players, so it works for anything from a couple to a big family gathering.
Check the listing shows the classic Sequence game, with a folding board, 104 cards and chips in three colours, as described here.

Questions
How many people can play Sequence?
Two to twelve people when played in teams. With teams, the players must divide evenly into two or three teams.
Is Sequence luck or skill?
Both. The cards you draw are luck, but choosing where to play, when to block and when to use a Jack is skill.
What does a one-eyed Jack do?
It lets you remove one of an opponent’s chips from the board, unless that chip is already part of a completed Sequence.
Can I use the corners?
Yes. The four corners are free spaces that count for everyone, so you only need four of your own chips to complete a Sequence using a corner.
